Okay, these last few aren't classics... but the cover of Kissed by Angel, by Elizabeth Chandler looked so Twilight inspired, I had to include it. The American edition is on the left, the UK edition is on the right. I don't think you can see in this picture, but the British edition also has the tagline, "True Love Lasts Forever" in tiny lettering at the bottom.
And here, the cover for Sleepless by Cyn Balog, also features a flower on a black background.
This is really strange! Well, maybe not strange, given marketing, but a little eerie. I love the cover for "Wuthering Heights" done by Ruben Toledo for Penguin. I think a few other classics were also done by him... My favorite trend in covers right now, though, is the kind of Gory-esque art, especially of boys in short breeches, like the cover for "Dilweed's Revenge" you listed in another post. Quite a few of those, and all of them I've read so far have been great!
ReplyDeleteAh, how I love Edward Gorey. The covers of the Mysterious Benedict Society remind me a little of him, as well as The Mysterious Howling by Maryrose Wood.
ReplyDeleteI love the British edition of Wuthering Heights cover. It resembles the story pretty much. Is it really Edward and Bella's favorite book? I just remembered it was mentioned in Twilight but I'm not really sure, memory gap perhaps..Hehehe :)
