Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.
The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.
In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever.

I really need to read Wither. I saw it in Waterstones and I've been stalking it on line, but so many books so little time!
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed the second book in YA dystopian-y series are never as good though? They always seem to lose whatever made them special in the first place. Look at Matched and Crossed - the second one didn't seem that dystopian-y (which is clearly a word now...)
Oh, I haven't read Crossed, yet! I haven't been able to get my hands on it. I'm still looking forward to it though. It occurs to me that I am reading the start of A LOT of series... it's going to be tough keeping on top of them all!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! I really liked WITHER and I can't wait to see how the story continues in FEVER. My WoW is CROAK.
ReplyDeleteI had Fever on my WOW before. I can't wait to read it either. Great choice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
I'm really excited for this too! I was hoping to get a copy at ALA Midwinter, but no such luck. I've already placed a hold for when it comes into the library....
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Fever, I really want to know what's going on whith Rhine's brother...and by the way I love your name =D
