And we're off!

Starting the 48 Hour Book Challenge, I must admit, this is anathema to my usual method of blogging.  I'm a big believer in "slow and steady wins the race"  When I started this book blog, I initially made a rule, no more than three posts a week -- I was excited to get started, but at the same time, I didn't want to post every day for a month, wear myself out, and then never blog again.

Typically, I'll have between three to six ideas for posts rattling around, and once I've got those down, more ideas will have sprouted in my brain.

Last April, I was not up for Maureen Johnson's Blog Every Day April challenge.  But this year (no one seemed to pick up the mantle and officially host anything) I quietly tried it out.  I was fully prepared to kiss quality posts goodbye, all in the name of posting, something, anything every day in April of 2010.   Much to my surprise, blogging every day was not as hard as I thought.  I kept it up (mostly) through May.  Will I continue blogging every day?  Not sure.  Three times a week has been working very well for me.  We'll see how much I'm able to do during this blogging marathon, and take it from there!

  1. I'm glad that you've found frequent posting to work for you. As with most things, the more you put in blogging, the more you'll get out of it. I will say that the one thing that has kept me going is not locking myself into an expectation that I can't meet.

I do look forward to 48HBC less for the blogging/reviewing I'll get done than the reading. The idea of knocking out a small stack of books is pretty compelling.

  2. Do enjoy the 48HBC, I loved participating last year; family obligations preclude my active participation as a reader this year but I am a cheerleader! Will be interested to hear what you are reading....will check back later.

  3. How are you doing so far? :) I envy you your ability to post often. My post today was the first in almost a month on my blog. I'm going to make it a priority to post at least twice a week. :) Good luck on the challenge.

  6. I did a challenge a couple months ago where I posted everyday for a week. There was no way I thought I was going to be able to do it, as I usually only post 3 times a week too, but it was easier than I thought it would be. I just needed to make sure that I made time for blogging. Good luck with the challenge!

  9. You totally won me over with "slow and steady wins the race." When I started book blogging I also didn't think I'd have a lot to say. It turns out I do. However, I've slowed down a bit lately. Continued good luck to you with the read a thon! :D
