In My Mailbox 17

I think this is my last binge of the year... I couldn't resist checking out these titles from the library. I've got some serious reading to do if I want to hit my reading goals by the end of the year. It's a close thing, but I think I'll make it!

Hounded by friends, I finally gave in and started reading Patrick Rothfuss's Kingslayer Chronicles. In a word: Amazing! I was excited to pick up a copy of Soul Thief, the sequel to The Demon Trapper's Daughter. The Wizard Heir is another sequel I've been meaning to get to for some time, and I liked Dash & Lily's Book of Dares so I thought I'd give Naomi & Ely's No Kiss List a try.

  1. Ooh is the Kingslayer Chronicles The Name of the Wind? I've heard such good things about that series! It looks so big though. Does it ever drag? Or could it keep my, embarrassingly short, attention?

  5. @ Smalls - I was skeptical of it, but the first book Name of the Wind was amazing. It doesn't drag at any point, but it is very, very long. The chapters are all really short. It's classic high fantasy, a great read.

@ Book Stacks - Keep! On! Reading! I'm nearly there, just need to buckle down and finish a few more books by the end of the year.

@ Drowning in Books - I hadn't heard that. I'll have to look into it.

@ Jaskirat - Yes, you do! My favorite thing about the series is that so much of it takes place in my neighborhood, so it's neat to read about huge demon fights and whatnot and know exactly where they are.

  6. I wasn't impressed by Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, so I'm kind of hesitant to read anything else by Rachel Cohn and David Leviathin. I might try Dash and Lily's Book of Dares, though. (:

  13. Oh good! Short chapters help make a long book go by so much faster. I love high fantasy, so that's another plus :) Thanks!

  14. @Sara - Really? I was totally all swoony for Nick & Norah. I thought the movie was a travesty. The book is waaay better.

I'm reading Soul Thief now, but I misplaced it... it's around here somewhere. I swear, I'd lose my head if it weren't attached. I'll have to take another look around and find it.
