In My Mailbox 18
I got two completely random books out of the blue this week. I'm pretty excited to read The Mystic Phyles... it's written in a handwritten diary format, and it's illustrated by Ralph Masiello. He's done a fantastic series of "how to draw" books which are popular at my library.
Aww those seem like cute reads! I hope you enjoy all you got!

Handwritten diary format sounds really neat! I haven't heard of these before.

The Mystic Phyles looks cute! I hope you like it! (:
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!!(:
@Giselle - yes, yes you have! How could you not? Heard of Diary of a Wimpy Kid? It's a super-popular trend in middle-grade fiction - that "hand lettered font" look plus lots of doodles. Think of Amelia's Notebook series by Marissa Moss. Or Vordak Incomprehensible, or Big Nate, or Dragonbreath by Ursula Vernon, or Griff Carver Hallway Patrol, or Origami Yoda, or Dork Diaries, or Geek Chic or The Popularity Papers or Dear Dumb Diary. You know. Like that.
ReplyDelete@Sara - Thanks!
Oh my gosh, that's so cool!! :) I LOVE hand-written diary format books -- I remember reading a book called Kyla May: Miss Behaves when I was younger that was in the same format, and it was one of my favourites ever!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome mailbox this week, Madigan! I hope you love all of your books -- they both sound like so much fun! :)
